TopGolf Driving range to open in Brandon
TopGolf, a driving range, sports bar and restaurant, is in negotiations to open a location in Brandon. The facility plans to include 102 semi-climate-controlled tees stacked on three stories plus other cutting edge services for golf lovers.
It is the first “satellite business” to announce plans to open in the Bass Pro Shops complex in Brandon.
Golf balls with computer chips will allow golfers to shoot at sensor-embedded targets as far as 200 yards away and see how close they get, the Tampa Tribunesaid. The luxury golfing bays will have misters in the summer and heaters in the winter, HDTVs and service from waiters for its golf-playing customers.
The proposed TopGolf in Brandon will be larger than other locations the company has including Houston and Austin, Texas.
TopGolf spokeswoman Adrienne Browne told the Tribune that Florida is of interest for the company because it’s a “great golfing state” and that “Florida and Brandon are where we want to be.”
The bays are rented for $20 an hour and players can compete against up to five other people, tallying scores based on how close they get to targets.
