Tampa Port Authority to sponsor Channelside July 4th fireworks display

The Tampa Port Authority is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Independence Day entertainment and fireworks celebration at Channelside Bay Plaza, which will take place Thursday, July 4, at the waterfront complex.

The TPA is excited to support the Tampa Attractions Association (TAA) and sponsor this year’s family-friendly, free event and encourages the public to come out and support what is sure to be a special night to celebrate our nation’s birth and enjoy the Channelside area and the rest of downtown Tampa.

The centerpiece event of the evening will be a dynamic fireworks display, set to music, which will be launched from a barge in Garrison Channel. The fireworks will be visible from Channelside Bay Plaza, as well as the Florida Aquarium, American Victory Ship, Yacht Starship, Cotanchobee Park, the Marriott Waterside Hotel, Harbour Island, the Tampa Bay Times Forum, the Sail Pavilion, the American Victory Ship and Bayshore Boulevard.
“We are excited and honored to be a part of this annual celebration at Channelside,” said Paul Anderson, CEO and port director. “Since the birth of our great nation, ports have played a vital role in the economic and physical growth of our great cities, and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate our city and country than with our partners and the community at Channelside.”

Adding to the entertainment offerings within the Channel District are The Florida Aquarium, the American Victory Ship, the Tampa Bay History Center and more. Dining is available on the Yacht Starship, at the History Center’s Columbia Cafe, or in one of several restaurants within Channelside Bay Plaza. Parking will be available in Channelside, but spots will fill up quickly. Event goers are encouraged to also utilize Tampa’s TECO Line Streetcar and the available parking in Ybor City.

The Tampa Port Authority (www.tampaport.com) administers Florida’s largest and one of the nation’s most diversified ports, handling a full array of cargoes. Also a premier cruise home port, the Port of Tampa is the largest economic engine in west and central Florida, generating nearly 80,000 jobs and more than $15 billion of dollars in economic impact annually.
