Visit Tampa Bay’s Sales Team secured over 43,700 room nights and $18 million in economic impact in second quarter  

Visit Tampa Bay ended the second quarter of its fiscal year having booked five major meetings and conventions, securing over 43,700 room nights and $18 million in economic impact.

Second quarter bookings include a three-year deal for the Florida State Thespian Society Annual Festival for March 2019, 2020 and 2021. The event is expected to bring over 22,000 room nights and $8.5 million in economic impact over the three years.

Other bookings are the American Phytopathological Society, an international organization dedicated to the study and control of plant diseases, generating over 3,500 room nights and $1 million in economic impact for July and August 2016; as well as Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, a fraternal organization, expecting over 17,700 room nights and $8.4 million in economic impact for July 2021.

The Tampa Bay Convention Sales Team also employed new meeting planner incentives, which offer discounted convention center rental and downtown hotel specials, monetary bonuses for each room night booked, or unique only-in-Tampa-Bay experiences for attendees.   More information about Visit Tampa Bay’s meeting planner incentives can be found at visittampabay.com/meeting-planners.
